Dumfries Shotokan Academy is run by Sensei Andy Hepburn who has a wealth of martial arts experience gained over the last 40 years. The club is a very friendly one with a belief that karate is for everyone with inclusion for all. We have both children’s and adult classes and we encourage parents to get involved in many aspects of the club which helps to promote a community spirit within the club environment.
We have helped many children and adults over the years overcome learning and behavioural difficulties The structure of the classes promotes a positive attitude and a healthy wellbeing.

Our junior class is on a Wednesday night at 18:00 till 19:00. This class is for beginners up to purple belt and covers all aspects of Shotokan Karate. This class is a mixed class that allows beginners to learn from more advanced students and develop friendships at the same time.
Our Senior class is also on a Wednesday night from 18:00 till 19:00 with an advanced class from 19:00 till 20:00.
The advanced class is open to all but goes deeper into techniques and applications found in many of the Shotokan katas.
